Our Roadster Moment: ConstructAI is Live
We automate BIM modeling with Agentic AI.
Upload a PDF, and get back a construction-ready 3D BIM model, ready for takeoff and coordination, in minutes instead of weeks. That’s the whole idea. Today, after two months of testing with real users on real projects, ConstructAI is officially out of beta.
Stage 1, Delivered
In Our (Not-So-Secret) Master Plan, we told you exactly what we were building toward, in order:
“Think of this as our Roadster moment. Tesla didn’t start with the Model 3. They started with an $89,000 sports car that could smoke a Porsche. It wasn’t the end goal — it was proof the technology worked.”
A few months ago, we showed the first proof: a small prefab house, modeled from a flat 2D PDF in 10 minutes — architectural elements only, walls, doors, and windows. The same drawing would take a BIM modeler about 3 days by hand.
That was proof the idea worked. It wasn’t the finished product.
Today, we’re releasing the real one.
This time, we modeled a full building — structural concrete, columns, walls, doors, and windows, across multiple levels, with full rebar detailing — in 6 to 8 hours. Done manually, that same building would take roughly a month.
See it for yourself:
What “Out of Beta” Actually Means
We could have called ourselves “launched” months ago. We didn’t, because the beta wasn’t ready to be trusted with real work, and we’d rather tell you that directly than let you find out the hard way.
Here’s what was actually broken, and what changed:
The Revit export didn’t work reliably. A model that can’t leave the platform isn’t a model — it’s a demo. Export now works smoothly, every time.
The interface made the product harder to understand than it should have been. We rebuilt it. What used to require a support call now takes a few minutes to learn.
The beta could only model walls, doors, and windows. That’s a nice trick. It’s not a tool anyone can build with. ConstructAI now models walls, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, and structural concrete elements — with full rebar detailing, across multiple levels, straight from a flat 2D drawing.
None of this is spin. If you tried the beta and it let you down, this is a genuinely different product, and the only way to know that is to see it — which is exactly why we posted the video above instead of just telling you it’s better.
Why We Started Where It Hurts Most
Structural concrete is one of the most data-dense, technically demanding workflows in the entire building — seismic codes, rebar schedules, sequencing, dozens of interdependent quantities, all buried in a 2D drawing that only a trained eye can fully read.
For a general contractor, the cost of getting it wrong isn’t abstract. It’s a clash caught in the field instead of in preconstruction. It’s an RFI that stalls a schedule. It’s a coordination model that’s already out of date by the time everyone’s looked at it.
We didn’t start with concrete because it was easy. We started here because if an AI can master the hardest, highest-stakes modeling problem in the building, everything else follows. As we wrote in Why “Your Market is Too Small” is the Wrong Question, concrete was never the destination. It was the wedge.
That’s Stage 1. It’s real now, not a roadmap.
Our Mission
We started ConstructAI because we believe the industry’s chronic dysfunction — the rework, the busted budgets, the schedules that slip a little more every week — isn’t unavoidable. It’s a data problem, and data problems are solvable.
Our mission is bringing certainty earlier to the construction industry.
Not certainty at the ribbon-cutting. Certainty in preconstruction, when a coordination clash or a bad quantity still costs a phone call instead of a change order. The earlier you know, the less it costs to fix.
What Comes Next
Stage 1 proved the technology works on the hardest modeling problem in the building. Stage 2 — connecting that structured data directly to costing, procurement, and scheduling, so a model stops living in isolation from the rest of the project — is already underway.
We’ll have more to share on that soon. Today is about Stage 1: it’s live, it’s tested, and it’s yours to try.
The Invitation
If you tried our beta and it let you down, this is worth a second look — free, on your own drawings, no strings attached.
If you’re a general contractor who’s never touched ConstructAI, watch the video above and judge for yourself whether 6-8 hours for a fully rebar-detailed structural model sounds possible. It didn’t to us either, before we built it.
We told you where we were starting. Today, we’re showing you it worked.
